Hope Martin Signs with Peru State Softball

(Peru, Neb.) – Recent Mission Valley High School graduate Hope Martin (Eskridge, Kan.) signed a letter of intent to play softball for Peru State. Bobcat head coach J.L. Thomason recently announced the signing.
Martin, the daughter of Jackie and Teresa Martin, was a three-sport athlete at Mission Valley. She earned first team all-league softball honors three years and was all-league second team in volleyball for two years. In addition, Martin earned second team basketball honors one team.
Also, Martin was a Kansas Honors Scholar and was named to the volleyball all-league academic team.
During her last two years of softball (no play this year due to Covid-19), Martin played 43 games and batted .489 with 16 doubles and 13 home runs. She drove in 51 runs. She had a .902 slugging percentage. Martin finished her career with .978 fielding percentage. In her junior season, Martin also spent some time on the mound and finished with a 4-3 mark.
Martin plans to major in graphic design at Peru State.
Thomason noted, "Hope is a strong corner infielder who shows good range and footwork around the bag at first base. At the plate she has shown the ability to hit for power to all fields without sacrificing her ability to make consistent contact."
