BEATRICE - Strong Thunderstorms crossed from Kansas into southeast Nebraska Tuesday afternoon and evening, doing some minor damage.

Tornado warnings were issued for parts of Thayer, Jefferson, Saline and Gage Counties....but there was no significant damage reported.

Jefferson County Emergency Manager John McKee says two storms prompting tornado warnings both crossed into Nebraska from Kansas….one going through Fairbury….and the other, from Steele City to east of Plymouth.

A tornado was initially reported, five miles northeast of Hubbell moving east at 5:45 pm. The report came from a Fire/weather spotter in Jefferson County.

Thunderstorm wind damage occurred in Fairbury with several limbs down...at around 6:06 p.m. A 91-mile-per-hour wind gust was measured at the local airport and a hangar door was blown off.

Geneva had quarter sized hail from a storm, reported at 4:01 p.m.

Half-dollar sized hail fell at Pawnee City at around 7:22 p.m., and six power poles were reported snapped off, leaning west to east, just to the southwest of Table Rock. Golf ball-sized hail was also reported at Table Rock

In Kansas....A storm chaser reported a needle-like funnel cloud, four miles north of Vermillion, Kansas at 6:26 p.m. At about the same time, a weather spotter observed a funnel cloud near the intersection of U.S. Highway 36 and Highway 187…two miles southeast of Baileyville.

Thunderstorm wind gusts to 60 mph knocked down tree limbs in Frankfort, Kansas...6:10 p.m...and quarter sized hail in Axtell, Kansas...at 6:31 p.m..
