Joseph Vargas Signs with Peru State Baseball

Peru State head baseball coach Wayne Albury recently announced the signing of Joseph Vargas from Toja Balto, Puerto Rico.

(Peru, Neb.) – Peru State head baseball coach Wayne Albury recently announced the signing of Joseph Vargas from Toja Balto, Puerto Rico.
 
Vargas played at Southeast Community College in Beatrice, Neb. before transferring to Faulkner University in Montgomery, Ala., and playing there during the 2018-19 season.


He went to high school at the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy in Gurabo, Puerto Rico.
 
The 5-10, 175 pound left-handed pitcher is the son of Michael Vargas Rosaria and Damaris Vazquez Ruiz and Juana Diaz, P.R. He plans on majoring in management while at Peru State.
 
In 2019 while at Faulkner, Vargas played in the NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho. During the season the Eagles went 49-12 overall and 24-3 in the conference. He pitched in 13 different contest for Faulkner. 

 
While at Southeast Community in 2017, Vargas and his Storm teammates played in the NJCAA World Series in Enid, Okla. During that season his team went 40-20 overall.
 
Vargas has participated in several all-star competitions including twice in the Excellent Tournament Section All-Star Game, the MLB Showcase, and the WWBA Underclass World Championship.
