Kimball County Voters pass four tax levy proposals on election day

KIMBALL COUNTY - Voters in Kimball County passed all four property tax levy proposals in the county on election day Tuesday.  

The levy for the Kimball County Agricultural Society passed 758-518. The levy allows the Agricultural Society to levy a property tax up up to 1.15 cents per $100 in taxable valuation until the fiscal year 2024-2025.

The levy for the Plains Historical Society passed 675-598. The levy allows the Plains Historical Society to levy a tax up to .25 cents per $100 in taxable valuation until fiscal year 2024-2025.

Two tax levies for area cemeteries also passed. 

The tax levy for the Dix Rural Cemetery District passed 80-40.

The tax levy for the Potter Rural Cemetery passed 7-4 in Kimball County. Cheyenne County voted 111-110 against the proposal, meaning overall, the measure passed 117-115. 

The Dix Cemetery levy is for up to 1 cent per $100 in valuation while the Potter Cemetery levy is for up to 3 cents per $100 in valuation.

The primary results for the Kimball School Board are as follows:

Chauncey Pedersen: 525 votes

Lanny Little: 510 votes

Albert Hargreaves: 505 votes

Tom O'Brien: 363 votes

Heather Norberg: 296 votes

Jennifer Griebel: 264 votes

Maggie Laughlin: 264 votes

Laura Perry: 248 votes

Carrie Tabor: 174 votes

Kimball County Commissioner:

Carl Stander (R): 494 votes

Justin Perry (R): 372 votes

Jim Wertz (R): 133 votes
