Peru State women's basketball head coach Joan Albury recently announced the hiring of Joshua (Josh) Kruzel as a graduate assistant.

(Peru, Neb.) – Peru State women's basketball head coach Joan Albury recently announced the hiring of Joshua (Josh) Kruzel as a graduate assistant.
Albury stated, "We are excited to bring Josh on board as our graduate assistant. He has four years of experience working in collegiate women's basketball, as well as a desire to gain more knowledge. Josh will be a huge asset in the development of our junior varsity program and will add to our varsity program as a third coach in practice and on the bench during games."
From Toledo, Ohio, Kruzel recently graduated from Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati with a bachelor of arts in educational studies. In addition, he has pursued some master's degree work at Lourdes University in Sylvania, Ohio.
Kruzel has a variety of basketball experiences – both at the collegiate and high school level. Most recently, he served as the varsity assistant at the Maumee Valley Country Day High School in Toledo. His other high school experience was an assistant coach at St. Ursula Academy – also in Toledo.
His collegiate experience came at Mount St. Joseph where he served as a student coach for four years. Kruzel assisted with all aspects of the program from scouting and recruiting to developing practice and game strategy. During his time with the program, the Lions made the conference tournament three of four years after not having made the tournament the previous 12 years.
During his last two years with the women's basketball program, Kruzel was the head of scouting and player development. During that time, Mount St. Joseph had two first team all-conference, five second-team all-conference, and one freshman player of the year. Also, one of the players was ranked fifth in the nation in NCAA Division III level.
Also while at Mount St. Joseph, Kruzel participated for four years as a member of the golf team where he was voted as the team captain during his senior year. In addition, he was a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and served as the president of the group during his senior year.
Kruzel is looking forward to joining the Bobcat coaching staff. He commented, "It's an honor to have been hired by such a great staff. I am looking forward to getting out to Peru State and getting to learn the culture that Coach Albury and Coach Holleran are building. This program is special and I am glad to be a part of it."
He will begin his duties with the start of the academic year on August 24.
