** Original story **
NELIGH, NE — Joe Lichty says he’s glad he installed a security camera on the east side of his Neligh liquor store.
On Thursday night, the camera captured footage of a wild accident. Video shows a semi hauling cattle driving near the intersection of Highway 275 and 2nd Street. The driver loses control of the semi and it overturns. Cows burst through the roof of the semi as it skids to a stop in front of Lucky Joe’s Liquor. One of the cows smacks the ice machine and the others hit the building wall.
Lichty says he found out about the accident when he got a call from a friend asking what happened to his yard. Lichty says the sign fell off his building and the ice machine isn’t working well but the building escaped further damage.
Lichty says the security company was unsure why he wanted a camera on that side of the building. He said he wanted to see people who take ice from the machine. He saw a lot more than that on Thursday night.
