Officials discuss planting season guidelines, announce detasseling task force

LINCOLN - The Department of Agriculture have issued guidelines for spring planting season and everything that comes along with it.

Director Steve Wellman says that garden centers nurseries and farmer's markets are supposed to follow all statewide directed health measures and that they should do everything possible to accommodate social distancing guidelines.

Wellman said an example to follow for nurseries and garden centers would be similar to the extra measures that grocery stores have implemented. He also said farmer's markets should not give out samples.

Ricketts also announced that a detasseling task force is being formed to ensure safety for all detasselers this summer.
