It’s a Joint effort by the Air and Army national guard. Rising to the occasion once again to help those suffering from the coronavirus, this time they’ve set up shop at Fonner park to begin performing their testing.

"When I was out there frontline testing, because I've been doing a lot of the swabbing myself, they were very grateful," said Lt. Col. Jennifer Hasslen. "Lots of thank-yous."

"Of course, doing the testing itself draws a few tears, not emotional tears but real, physical tears, unfortunately."

Using the Fieldhouse has allowed the team to set up even faster than before, as well as better secure the testing process.

"We're not exposed to the elements. The wind was a big problem our first couple of days," Hasslen said.

"This has been wonderful. It's warm. It's a good drive-through. And we can control our sampling much better."

Despite the danger presented by performing the tests, the national guard have made sure to come as prepared as they can.

"We feel like we're very well protected. We have not just this mask, but this mask and a face shield. And that big Tyvek suit that we've been wearing, or we've got the pepper masks."

We really appreciate the opportunity to help our communities. I think everybody on the team- we were all volunteers,' Hasslen said.

"I think that's really important to understand: we weren't told to do this."

"We're here because we care, and we're here because we want to help our communities. We want to help greater Nebraska," Hasslen said.
