LINCOLN - Nebraskans have an opportunity to fill hundreds of jobs that have come open at a time when they are sorely needed.
Swedish outsourcing company Transcom has announced that they are making up to 700 office from home jobs available to Nebraskans, specifically in rural areas.
Company officials say the bulk of the jobs will be temporary call center positions for an unnamed food delivery company.
State economic development officials say even during a pandemic there are opportunities to create jobs in Nebraska.
"The vision of 'Grow Nebraska' has not stopped since we have been taking care of issues pertaining to this pandemic," Economic Development Director Tony Goins explained. "We are reaching out and contacting potential companies that are looking to move to Nebraska
Transcom says it's also looking to fill up to 70 permanent call center positions by the end of the month.
State officials say their focus is to get rural and small-town Nebraskans to apply for and ultimately receive these work-from-home positions.
