O’NEILL, NE — Nebraskans have probably been spending a lot more time on the couch over the last month.  In the age of the smartphone, that almost always means more time looking, scrolling, and playing on your phone.

One game popping up on more and more Nebraskans’ phones is O’Neill High School teacher Gary Hostert’s Kahoot! trivia quizzes.

“I said, ‘I’ll make Kahoots if you want to put them on the O’Neill High Facebook page," Hostert said.  "It just kinda started with a quiz about the history of O’Neill high school, then the town history, then I’ve had suggestions on other topics and it’s grown from there.”

Local legend says Hostert is the trivia king, easily able to name every World Series and Super Bowl winner and list every president. His Kahoot! topics range from Nebraska football, to high school mascots, and county license plate numbers.

His biggest fear - getting an answer wrong.

“I really try to double-check and triple-check to make sure,” Hostert said.

Hostert creates new quizzes about five times a week. Some quizzes have been taken by around 150 people.  Top players make the leaderboard… something I have yet to crack.

“I just think that people naturally like the trivia and the history, especially when it revolves around things that they remember from their lives,” Hostert said.

You can find the quizzes on the O’Neill High Facebook page and on the Kahoot! app.
