Brownville Men Charged in Burglary, Assault of Tecumseh Man, Participate in Hearings by Phone

BEATRICE – Pretrial hearings for two of three men charged in a dispute last year with a Tecumseh man who shot two of the men in self-defense, have been continued for approximately 90-days.
27-year-old Kolton Bridgewater and 21-year-old Levi Bridgewater, both of Brownville…participated by phone in Johnson County District Court Monday, due to COVID-19.
Kolton Bridgewater previously pleaded not guilty to charges of burglary, making a terroristic threat and attempt of a felony. Levi Bridgewater pleaded not guilty earlier to charges of burglary, attempt of a felony and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.
Both pretrial hearings have been rescheduled for July 6th.
Investigators and prosecutors allege that on May 10th of 2019, Kenneth, Kolton and Levi Bridgewater went to the North Fourth Street Tecumseh home of Raymond Brown, with the intent to assault him. They allege Levi Bridgewater was armed with a knife, and forcefully entered the home. They say Brown shot Levi and Kolton Bridgewater in self-defense.
Both men survived their wounds. All three men charged have pleaded not guilty.
Kenneth Bridgewater is charged with burglary, attempt of a felony, a terroristic threat, criminal mischief and possession of a firearm in commission of a felony.
