LINCOLN - Health officials are warning Nebraskans about another hazard related to going outside...smoke.

Widespread burning in the Flint Hills area of Kansas is combining with a south wind to bring smoke well into Nebraska.

Officials with the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department issued a health advisory Sunday. They say the smoke in the air is expected to reach unhealthy levels for children, older adults and anyone with asthma or another respiratory disease.

The Department of Health and Human Services had issued a warning early last month, saying that they expected more smoke this year from the burning than usual.
