NORTH PLATTE, NEB. (KNOP)- The Keith County food pantry is seeking continued support from Ogallala residents, as well as those in surrounding communities.

"People have been really generous of asking what we need and when we need it," said Brenda Griffith, a volunteer at the pantry.

Local Catholic churches are in the midst of a food drive that has youth groups going door to door to collect donations. With all the social restrictions that are in place, Griffith is hopeful that it will not have too severe of an impact for those looking to donate.

As for operations at the pantry itself, Griffith says it hasn't been as much of a social interaction as it normally is with those who come through its doors.

"Right now we just meet people at the door with their cart and as soon as they get back, we sanitize it and get it loaded up for the next person," said Griffith.

Asked if the pantry is looking for any specific food times, breakfast cereal and jelly were two items that were emphasized on what is needed.

While the pantry continues to see donations and support, Griffith also hopes that citizens will continue to look out for one another during these times.

"Just ask your neighbor if they need help. Some have their kids at home right now and not a lot of food. Something as simple as a home cooked meal could go a long way."
