State issues Directed Health Measures following 'community spread' case in Norfolk
The measures took effect Sunday morning.
NORFOLK - On Saturday, the Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health Department announced a confirmed coronavirus case in Norfolk that it deemed was "community spread."
Nebraska officials have issued Directed Health Measures (DHM) in Madison, Stanton, Cuming and Burt Counties.
The measures took effect Sunday morning.
Key new regulations include mandated limitations on social gatherings to ten people or fewer; limiting restaurant services to takeout, curbside and delivery only; discontinuing on-site consumption at bars and prohibiting elective surgeries.
Norfolk Mayor Josh Moenning said a confirmed community spread case means new business and health care restrictions are in place and that recommendations on gathering limits become legally enforceable.
The city said it will hold a joint news conference with public health officers, and health care providers on Monday.
