The state's prison director has received a 30 percent pay raise.

According to the Omaha World-Herald, Gov. Pete Ricketts upped director Scott Frakes' annual pay from $192,000 to $250,000.

The increase makes Frakes one of the highest-paid state prison directors in the country and the second-highest-paid state agency director behind the head of the Nebraska Investment Council.

Several state senators, including Ernie Chambers and Steve Lathrop of Omaha, objected to the raise.
