NORFOLK - Norfolk Public Schools is promoting from within to fill a vacant principal job.

Superintendent Doctor Jami Jo Thompson announced today that Tracy Lichty will be the new Principal at Westside Elementary School.

Lichty has worked at NPS for 20 years, including spending the current school year as the Dean of Students at Norfolk High School. Before that role, he taught at the elementary and middle school levels.

“Mr. Lichty is a great fit for the Principal position at Westside Elementary School," Thompson said in a news release. "He has shown leadership in many roles across the school district, and we are excited to have him join the Westside team!”

Lichty takes over for Angie Baumann, who is moving to an administration position with the school district.

Pending Board of Education approval, Lichty will start in his new role on July 1.
