COVID-19 has sidelined Omaha's annual St. Patrick's Day Parade.

The two-and-a-half hour march through the city's Old Market—scheduled for Saturday from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.—was canceled this afternoon "due to ongoing concerns about the spread of the coronavirus," according to a spokesman for the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

Earlier today the AOH's Hugh Spellman told NCN the organization had been in contact with Mayor Jean Stothert's office and was reviewing its plans.

Meanwhile, still no word from Omaha Public School's regarding the re-start of classes on Monday.

Students in the state's largest district have been on spring break and out of class since March 4.

Stothert told reporters on Wednesday that OPS was reviewing its plans as well.
