Grand Island Central Catholic returns to state tournament for first time since 2018
The Crusaders qualify for the Nebraska School Activities Association State Basketball Championships for the eighth time in school history.

NORTH PLATTE - Sophomore Rylie Rice had a game-high 19 points, senior Katie Maser added 13, and the No. 6 Grand Island Central Catholic girls basketball team punched their ticket to the state tournament Friday night with a 54-32 victory over No. 11 Bridgeport.
The Crusaders out-rebounded the Bulldogs, 31-18, and forced 15 turnovers at North Platte Community College. GICC turned the ball over 19 times.
Only three players scored for Bridgeport. They were led by freshman Mackenzie Liakos, who finished with 14 points. Freshman Ruthie Loomis-Goltl chipped in 12 and sophomore Ellie Cline at 6 points.
Loomis-Goltl had three blocks and finished with 111 this season.
The Crusaders (17-7) qualify for the Nebraska School Activities Association State Basketball Championships for the eighth time in school history. They have a 2-7 record at the state tournament. Tournament play begins on Thursday.
The Bulldogs, who haven't advanced to the state tournament since 2010, finish the season at 19-6 and return everyone next season.
