(Peru, Neb.) – In their third series of the season, the Peru State baseball team split a double header with Oklahoma Wesleyan (OKWU) in Bartlesville on Friday. The Bobcats took the first game 7-6 before dropping the night cap 13-5 in a pair of seven-inning contests.
 
With the split, the 'Cats moved to 4-6 while the Eagles are now 9-8.
 
First Game Action
 
The Eagles jumped to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Neither team scored in the next two innings.

Peru State would finally get on the board in the top of the fourth inning. Jackson Tingwald (Ralston) singled to right to start the inning but was out on a double play. Joycer Raymondi (Berwyn, Ill.) reached on a walk and would score when Luis Landaeta doubled to right-center. Jose Chacin (Machiques, Venezuela) single to left to drive in Landaeta to cut the deficit to 4-2.
 
In the top of the fifth, the Bobcats plated five to take the lead. Hector Torres (Gurabo, Puerto Rico) reached on an error and after a pitching change, Jesus Tavarez (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) reached on a walk. Julian Fernandez (Middle Village, N.Y.) would load the bases by reaching on an error. After another pitching change, Tingwald singled to left to drive in Torres and Tavarez to tie the score. After an out, Raymondi singled to right to load the bags. Landaeta reached on a walk with Fernandez scoring to take the lead. Chacin hit a sac fly which brought in Tingwald with Raymondi moved to third. On a passed ball, Raymondi scored to make it 7-4.
 
OKWU would score two in the bottom of the frame to close the gap to one at 7-6.
 
The 'Cats would hold off the Eagles in the bottom of the seventh as Oklahoma Wesleyan would strand two.
 
Peru State scored its seven runs on six hits and committed one error. OKWU scored their six runs on five hits and had five miscues.
 
Tingwald and Raymondi led the team with two hits apiece. Tingwald, Landaeta, and Chacin were each credited with two RBI.

Luis Pacheco (Miami, Fla.) started on the mound for the Bobcats for Peru State and only recorded two outs. He allowed one hit and four earned runs. Brock Renter (Valley) tossed 3.2 innings and allowed three hits and two earned runs. Manual Caballero (Dolega, Panama) tossed the final 2.2 innings and earned the win. Caballero gave up just one hit and struck out five.

The Eagles got on the board first again as they scored five runs in the bottom of the first.
 
In the top of the second, Peru State got on the board after two outs. Caballero reached on a wild throw and went to second on the play. Raymondi singled to center to drive in Caballero to make it 5-1.
 
OKWU added one in the bottom of the second to put their lead back to five at 6-1.
 
In the top of the third, after an out, Darrien Liriano (Orlando, Fla.) singled to left-center. Liriano would move to second on a wild throw. After another out, Tavarez singled to right to drive in Liriano to put the score at 6-2.
 
The Eagles would get the run back in the bottom of third and led 7-2 after three complete innings.
 
Peru State tried to get back in the game in the top of the fourth by scoring three runs. Tingwald started things off with a double to left. After an out, Raymondi reached on a walk. Austin Greenfield (Omaha) was hit by a pitch to load the bases. After a second out, Liriano singled to right to bring home Tingwald and Raymondi to cut it to 7-4. Later, on a passed ball, Greenfield scored what would be the Bobcats' final run.
 
In the bottom of the fifth, OKWU added six more runs for the final 13-5 win.

The Eagles scored their 13 runs on nine hits and had two errors. The 'Cats scored their five runs on six hits and committed no errors.
 
Liriano went two for four to lead the Bobcats and also had two RBI. Tavarez and Raymondi each added one RBI.
 
Keniel Cruz (Cayey, Puerto Rico) started on the bump for the Bobcats and was tagged for the loss. Cruz threw 1.1 innings and allowed four hits and six earned runs. Blake Feeken (Crete) threw the next 2.2 innings. Feeken gave up four hits, four earned runs, and struck out two. Tingwald tossed the final two innings. He gave up one hit, three earned runs, and struck out three.

The two teams were scheduled to play another double header on Saturday beginning at noon.

Mother Nature permitting, the Bobcats will host their first home double header this upcoming Saturday, February 29, when Missouri Valley comes to town. It will be the opening Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) action for both squads. The Vikings are presently 6-7 on the season and have a five-game winning streak.
 
On the first of March, the 'Cats will head to Fayette, Mo., to taken on Central Methodist in a double header beginning at 1 p.m.  The Eagles are 9-3 on the year at the time of this press release.
