OMAHA - A double-digit fourth quarter lead was just enough for No. 1 Millard North to hold off No. 9 North Star on Tuesday night.
The Mustangs led by 11 with less than five minutes to go before the Gators would cut the deficit to two in the final mutes. However, Millard North hit their free throws down the stretch to hold on for the 69-67 victory.
Millard North junior Hunter Sallis led his team with 27 points. Fellow juior Saint Thomas added 18 while Max Murrell and Jasen Green each contributed nine apiece.
Senior Donovan Williams scored a game-high 21 for the Gators. Luke Juracek knocked down five three-pointers, four in the fourth quarter as part of his 15-point performance. Kwat Abdelkarim also hit double-digits with 10.
