COLUMBUS - It's not often a Columbus football player signs with a major D1 school.

That's exactly what happened Wednesday.

Columbus High senior Joey Braasch has made it official: He's going to be a Wyoming Cowboy.

Couches and teammates gathered around as Braasch signed the paperwork.

In his final year with the Discoverers, Braasch rushed for 700 yards and eight touchdowns, while catching eight passes for 110 yards.

Braasch said he picked Wyoming because of the family feeling he got from them.

"Going over there and visiting, I really saw how they did things over there and that’s something I wanted to be part of," he said.  "So from that moment on, when I took my official, I knew that I wanted to be 100 percent Cowboy.”

Braasch credits his coaches in all three sports he played for preparing him for the D1 level.
