Former Risky's, to Open Under New Name, Ownership

BEATRICE - The former Risky’s Sports Bar and Restaurant will open under a new name and ownership this coming year.
Monday night, the Beatrice City Council recommended approval of a Class-C liquor license for BLT Investments, LLC, which will operate the business under the name, 402 Sports Bar and Grill.
According to the license application, the business is an equal partnership between Doug Tegtmeier, Wes and Sarah Behrends and Julie Larson.
Risky’s abruptly closed this past year, at its location north of the Indian Creek Mall.
A short public hearing was held on the new license application, which now goes to the Nebraska Liquor Commission for consideration.
In other action, Beatrice City officials have given final approval to annexing property into the north and west parts of the city.
The final votes of approval came Monday night on property near 9th and Dorsey owned by Gary and Gail Berke, which will become the site of the proposed Birchwood Estates Retirement Village.
The second parcel is at Southeast Community College, which brings property into the city upon which college facilities currently exist. The city council also approved a change in zoning of the property, from an agriculture designation, to office area.
The council also approved a contract payment totaling some $336,000 to R.L Tiemann Construction. The payment is for work on Sargent Street between Ashland and Ridgeview Drive in the Gage County Industrial Park.

The upgrade was the major concrete reconstruction project in the City of Beatrice, this year. The street was recently reopened to travel.
