Beatrice to Host Forum With Nominee For University of Nebraska President
Forum in Beatrice with University of Nebraska President nominee

BEATRICE - Beatrice will host a breakfast forum next Wednesday, Nov. 6, for the public to meet and ask questions of Walter “Ted” Carter, VADM (Ret.), the candidate finalist to serve as the University of Nebraska's Eighth president.
The forum is from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Vintage Venue, in downtown Beatrice. It is open to the public. NU Regent Rob Schafer, who represents District 5 on the Board, will attend and assist Carter for his Beatrice visit.
Carter is the immediate past superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy and was appointed as the priority presidential candidate by a unanimous vote of the Board of Regents. He was also unanimously supported by a 23-member Presidential Search Advisory Committee consisting of faculty, staff, students, administration, business, agriculture and the community.
Board of Regents Chairman Tim Clare spoke about the visit in Beatrice...."the next thirty days is important. You will have the opportunity to meet him, discuss issues with him. We are going to be taking Ted across the state to communities, so he can visit campuses, discuss with faculty and staff and administration issues about what he can bring to the University of Nebraska system".
Carter’s appointment is subject to a 30-day public vetting period that will include open forums on each NU campus and across the state. At the conclusion of the 30 days, the board will consider naming Carter as the university’s president-elect.
Carter’s visit to Beatrice is part of a statewide series of open forums.
Nebraskans can provide feedback to the Board anytime during the 30-day review period to logging onto:
