TECUMSEH - Senior Eli Waring threw one incomplete pass, senior Levi Dorsey rushed for over 100 yards, junior Uriel Cabrales had two touchdowns on two catches, and the Johnson County Central football team defeated Freeman Friday night, 47-20, in Tecumseh.

Waring finished 6-7, for 223 yards and four touchdowns. Dorsey ran for 120 yards on 22 carries and a score. Cabrales caught two passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns.

“Despite Freeman's record this season, they had some big plays tonight right out of the gate," Thunderbirds Head Coach Gabe Meints said. "Our team has shown their resiliency all year and have played to the end, and once again, we also had some big plays and managed to come out with the victory.”

Five senior offensive lineman also had the chance to carry the football in their final home game of their careers. Tanner Kerner ran for three yards, Andruw Stafford went for three yards, Aldo Reyes broke out a 19 yard run, Colton Wellman lost a couple yards, and Quentin Xayaphonesongkham rushed for seven yards.

“It is just a nice gesture that I personally enjoy," Meints said. "These guys are battling hard in the trenches week-in and week-out their entire high school careers to try and make a path for the running back. This is our way of saying thank you for your effort."

Senior Caleb Eggleston led the team in tackles on defense. He finished with nine.

JCC improves to 4-3 this season and will be at Malcolm on Friday. Meanwhile, the Falcons are 0-7 and host Syracuse in their final home game of the season in Adams.
