Norfolk Rotary Club announces scholarship winners
The Norfolk Rotary Club has announced the winners of the 2019-20 Rotary Scholarship.

NORFOLK, NE -- The Norfolk Rotary Club has announced the winners of the 2019-20 Rotary Scholarship. High school seniors can apply for a Rotary Scholarship on the basis of their leadership skills; financial need, and participation in service organizations. The following students have received scholarships for the 2019-20 academic year.
Haley Lidgett: Norfolk Senior High, Area of Study: Secondary Education
Joel Sanchez: Norfolk Senior High, Area of Study: Academic Transfer
Joseph Otero: Norfolk Catholic, Area of Study: Pre-Professional Engineering
Mattalyn Boning: Lutheran High Northeast, Area of Study: Exercise Science
Norfolk Rotary Club Scholarships have been awarded for over 40 years with over 200 students receiving assistance to continue their education. More recently the Rotary Club has joined hands with the McIntosh Legacy Scholarship to provide greater access to post-secondary education by establishing a partnership with Northeast Community College. This collaboration has provided opportunities to students interested in both vocational studies as well as advancement into four-year colleges and universities.
Students interested in applying for Rotary Scholarships should contact their counselor at their respective schools. This year, the program awarded $4000 in scholarships, with over $120,000 awarded since the inception of the Rotary Scholarship program.
The Norfolk Rotary Club is now a nearly 100 year member of what is now known as Rotary International, with over 200 countries and two million members working through hundreds of clubs worldwide. Rotary focuses their time and resources to the goal of “Service Above Self” in both local club service projects as well as international efforts to eradicate Polio and Human Trafficking. Additionally, Rotarians contribute to education, health and hunger initiatives around the globe.
