LOUISVILLE - Levi Dorsey rushed for 144 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries and the Johnson County Central football team secured their first win of the season with a 38-13 victory over Louisville Friday at Louisville High School.

Dorsey also caught a touchdown pass from Eli Waring. Waring threw for 90 yards and a pair of scores on 4-13 passing. He also had three interceptions.

“It was an ugly game at times, in terms of fumbles and interceptions, but we came out with the win," Head Coach Gabe Meints said. “More importantly, we were able to get more players involved in the offense, as both Eli and Trey found 5 different receivers. In addition, we were able to get the ball on the ground with just as many, so we utilized our position players pretty good tonight.”

Tucker Liberty scored on an 85-yard interception return for a touchdown. Waring and Joe Rodriquez led the team in tackles with 13.

“Defensively, we have been putting ourselves in a good position to step up and make some big plays," Meints said. "Other than Tucker's interception return, we also forced 4 fumbles and recovered 3 of those. Aldo Reyes ran a fumble back. We just need to continue playing our positions and responsibilities well, and hope for the best.”

The Thunderbirds (1-1) are back home on Friday vs. Shelby-Rising City. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Louisville drops to 1-1 and will host Raymond Central on Friday.
