South Sioux City awarded for high recovery rates

South Sioux City Firefighters were recognized for the Code Save Award.

SOUTH SIOUX CITY - South Sioux City Firefighters were recognized for the Code Save Award.

This award is given to First Responders who bring back a cardiac victim to a full recovery walking out of the hospital.

In a Facebook post Monday, the crews were recognized by the city council for having three since January and four since of November 2018.

The post says the national average is 8%, the Nebraska average is 12%, and the South Sioux City Fire Department has a 36% successful recovery rate.
