Police arrest 2 in connection to convenience store shoplifting attempt

Omaha Police say they have arrested 2 people in connection with an attempted shoplifting and shots fired incident Tuesday morning.

OMAHA - Omaha Police say they have arrested 2 people in connection with an attempted shoplifting and shots fired incident Tuesday morning.

It happened at the Midtown Gas and Grocery near 13th and Martha Streets around 3 AM.

Police say four people walked in and tried to shoplift beer.

The clerk stopped them and says he used mace on one of the suspects.

Police say that one of the four suspects fired shots at the clerk; there were no injuries reported

Several hours later, police arrested the four. After questioning, two were released.

Burale was charged with attempted felony assault and weapons charges and Mahamed was charged with attempted shoplifting and providing false information.
