OMAHA - An Omaha teen can play some pickup basketball at home thanks to the kindness of a police officer.

Omaha Police say the officer has been mentoring students at Benson High School for the last few years.

Police officials say the officer knew that one of the students was a huge basketball fan. The unnamed officer recently surprised the student, named Jalen with a brand new hoop.

The officer had tried to give Jalen a hoop that was donated to the precinct earlier this summer but it had pieces missing, so the he purchased the new hoop on its own.
