Jimmy Kimmel and Brad Paisley welcome new US citizens to America
America's the Land of Opportunity, as the old saying goes. Now thanks to Jimmy Kimmel and Brad Paisley, it's also in a new song.
The host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! invited Paisley on his show Tuesday night to sing about the various opportunities available in America to a new group of naturalized citizens.
Kimmel noted that he wanted to make the process of becoming a U.S. citizen, "more exciting than a trip to the DMV." So he first welcomed Dave Joseph, the public address announcer for the Los Angeles Kings. Joseph gave a "starting lineup-like" introduction to six new American citizens. Then, Kimmel brought Paisley out to perform a song about their new home.
"You can dress your dog like Lady Gaga, make him his own Instagram," the three-time Grammy Award winner sang. "Go to Drybar, get a blowout -- marry a Kardashian."
Paisley's parody track covered everything from freedom of speech to reality shows before he transitioned into "America (My Country 'Tis of Thee)." A bald eagle mascot -- Guillermo in costume, actually -- waved an American flag while streamers were fired off to much applause.
Kimmel wrapped the segment by thanking Paisley and congratulating the new American citizens.
