Big fourth inning propels Dannebrog-Cairo-Boelus past Syracuse, enters championship game unbeaten
SYRACUSE - Dannebrog-Cairo-Boelus pulled away from Syracuse with an eight-run fourth inning Tuesday and advanced to the Class C State Legion Baseball Tournament Championship with an 8-3 victory.
The Post 100 Seniors jumped out to a 2-0 lead. They scored a run in the first inning when Izaak Prater was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Prater was also involved in the second run in the third inning when he hit a ground ball to the shortstop, resulting in an error. Jake Gorton scored.
Syracuse finished with a pair of hits. Max Brammier and Brandon Cavanaugh each collected one.
Griffen Goering was charged with the loss on the mound. He allowed six runs on five hits and struck out four over three and a third innings.
Syracuse finishes the season 12-21.
DCB will play Pender for the state title Wednesday at 5 p.m.. Pender has to beat DCB twice to win the tournament.
