SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Authorities say a 16-month-old girl died after being left inside a hot vehicle in Sioux City.

The Sioux City Police Department said officers who were dispatched about 4 p.m. Sunday found the toddler unconscious. The temperature was 98 degrees at the time, the National Weather Service said. The girl was pronounced dead at a hospital later.

It’s unclear how long the girl was left alone in the vehicle. Her name and other details about what happened haven’t been made public. — AP
