COLUMBUS, NE - Columbus area charities are feeling a community boost this week.
Midnight Friday signifies the end of Columbus Big Give, a week where Columbus area supporters are invited to give back to their favorite local charities.
CASA Connection hosted a giving event Friday morning. Executive Director Susan Jarecki says the event helps fill gaps in funding.
"Every year people give what they can,” Jarecki said. “It's just appreciated and the money is used in so many different ways helping out so many different people."
CASA will use money donated during the week to give necessities to foster children.
Mosaic of Northeast Nebraska also hosted a Friday event, selling donated Subway boxes at North Park Church. Community Relations Officer Amie Junk says it's inspiring to see the community respond during the week.
"It's so heartwarming,” Junk said. “People just start coming out of the woodwork to help out. It's very humbling to ask for help, but it's even more humbling to see all the people that want to help you, too."
Donations to Mosaic will go towards helping intellectually disabled people attend community events.
