It's election season, and Senator Deb Fischer is making some last minute stops before the May 15 primary. At one of those stops, Fischer found herself at the VFW in Norfolk Sunday where she talked about her priorities if re-elected.
'Well, I really care about national security," Fischer said.
"We have to keep this country safe and we have to take care of our military men and women who serve this country. We need to meet their needs and take responsibility for meeting those needs. We want to grow this economy, we want to make sure that the people can have good jobs and take care of their families and we need to look at continuing to reduce these burdensome regulations so we can have these businesses grow and increase and create jobs. I think the focus is on security, whether it's national security or economic security."
And Fischer believes this along with several other factors should put her first in the voters minds when they cast their votes Tuesday.
"Well, you know I haven't seen too many of my competitors out, i've been busy doing my job," Fischer said. "This weekend is a campaign weekend, but I take my job very seriously. It's an honor to serve the people of Nebraska, so I am always out in communities having meetings with business people, I tour hospitals, I visit schools, I tour plants, hold roundtables and I enjoy that. It helps me hear what's on people's minds and then Nebraskans and I can work together and fight for what's good for Nebraska in the United States Senate."
The Primary Election is May 15. Polls open at 8 A.M. To find out where your local polling place is located head here: https://www.votercheck.necvr.ne.gov/.
