STANTON COUNTY, NE - Stanton County officials say flooding has made travel dangerous in the southwest corner of the county.
Stanton County Emergency Manager Sanford Goshorn says snow piles have melted and created road flooding. He says lowland flooding is present across the entire county, but the worst sections of flooding are in the southwest corner.
Goshorn says road crews had to pile snow in intersections when clearing roads. Now, that snow has melted but doesn't have an outlet. He recommends travelers use caution when driving until water recedes - which could take several days.
Stanton County is currently in a Dense Fog Advisory, High Wind Watch and Flood Watch. The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for the Elkhorn River near Pilger from late Wednesday night to Saturday morning. The NWS says the river is expected to rise to 1.5 feet above flood stage on Thursday but dip below flooding on Friday.
