STANTON COUNTY, NE (News Channel Nebraska) - The floods have compromised or completely destroyed a number of bridges across Nebraska including the Highway 57 bridge in Stanton, which connects the North and South sides of the county.
The Stanton County Sheriff's department has come up with a clever and effective solution a walkway connecting one side to another and parking emergency vehicles and patrol cars on the other side. Sheriff Unger explains how it would work.
If built, Unger says the Sheriffs Office would park at least one patrol car on the south side of the bridge in case of an emergency.
Unger also says his colleagues in the Niobrara area are interested in projects like this for their first responders.
